Convert CGPA to percentage
By university rule • Official source linked with every resultConvert CGPA to percentage free online — no signup, no data stored. This CGPA to percentage calculator works the careful way: by university. Enter your CGPA, choose your university, and the tool applies that university's official rule with the formula written out in your numbers and a link to the official university document it comes from. There is no single national formula hiding behind this page, and pretending otherwise would give many students a wrong percentage.
Why the university selector decides everything
Two students with the same 8.00 CGPA can legitimately receive different percentages, because each university publishes its own official conversion. Under VTU's 2022 scheme rule, Percentage = CGPA × 10, so 8.00 becomes 80.00%; under VTU's 2015–2018 scheme rule, (CGPA − 0.75) × 10, the same 8.00 becomes 72.50%; and under JNTUH's official rule, (CGPA − 0.5) × 10, it becomes 75.00%. Every result names the rule, the scheme it applies to, and links the official source — VTU's CGPA Standard Formula page ↗, VTU Regulations 2022 (PDF) ↗, JNTUH Academic Regulations R18 (PDF) ↗ — so you can open the same document and check the rule for your own batch. Mumbai University is the exception by its own decision: it repealed formula conversion on 1 January 2026, so its percentage now comes from actual marks, as its official 2026 circular ↗ explains.
How to convert CGPA to percentage
First calculate an accurate CGPA — the SGPA to CGPA calculator does this from semester SGPAs with or without credits. Then enter that CGPA here without rounding it down first; rounding 8.46 to 8.4 before converting quietly shaves marks off the percentage. With every result you get the exact rule used, the scheme it applies to, and a link to the official university document — open it and match the rule to your own regulation year, because universities revise notifications and a senior’s circular may not govern your batch.

CGPA to percentage formula
There is no one CGPA to percentage formula for every student in India. Each university notifies its own conversion, which is why this page always starts from the university you select. Where a linear rule is loaded, the CGPA to percentage calculation is: Percentage = (CGPA − offset) × multiplier, using that university's offset and multiplier. The calculator shows the rule, the scheme it applies to, and a link to the official university source with every result.
CGPA to percentage conversion table
The table below uses official rules published by the universities: VTU 2022 scheme (CGPA × 10), VTU 2015–2018 schemes ((CGPA − 0.75) × 10) and JNTUH ((CGPA − 0.5) × 10). Pick the column for your university and scheme — the calculator above does this automatically and links the official document for each rule.

Every university in the calculator — VTU, JNTUH, KTU, SPPU, JNTUK, SRM, Mumbai, Calcutta and Calicut — now converts with its own official rule or official process, linked from the result. Use the Percentage to CGPA calculator for the reverse conversion. SPPU students: see the dedicated CGPA to Percentage SPPU guide.
Common percentage mistakes
- Assuming one fixed multiplier fits every university. It does not; the selector exists for this reason.
- Quoting a converted percentage without its source — keep the university rule and scheme next to the figure, exactly as the result card shows them.
- Rounding the CGPA early, then converting the rounded value.
- Using a percentage-to-CGPA table backwards without checking whether the university’s rule is actually linear and invertible; our Percentage to CGPA calculator only inverts a rule that is loaded for the selected university.

Universities and boards covered
This calculator covers 172 universities, institutes and boards across India — each one converting with its own official published rule, from VTU, Anna University and the NITs to state universities and CBSE. To keep this page focused on converting, the full list lives on its own page, grouped by state:
Or simply tap the university field in the calculator above and type your university's name. If it is not listed, choose Other and enter your own formula — or request your university from the list page and we will verify its official rule and add it.

Frequently asked questions
How does this CGPA to percentage calculator work?
Enter your CGPA and select your university. If that university has a rule in our data file, the calculator applies it and shows the substituted formula; if not, it tells you to check the official notification.
Is there one universal CGPA to percentage formula?
No. Each university publishes its own official conversion. That is why this tool is organised by university: every rule it applies is taken from that university's own document, linked as the official source with the result.
Where do the conversion rules come from?
From the universities themselves. Each rule on this site is taken from an official university document — VTU's Regulations 2022 and its CGPA Standard Formula page, JNTUH's Academic Regulations, SPPU Circular 332/2020, and so on — and the result card links to that official source so you can check it yourself.
Why does Mumbai University show no percentage?
Because the University of Mumbai repealed its conversion formula on 1 January 2026. Your college now calculates the actual percentage from your marks in all semesters, and the university issues a conversion certificate only on request. The calculator explains this and links Mumbai University's official 2026 circular instead of using the old formula.
Should I just multiply CGPA by a fixed number?
Only if your university’s own notification says so. Multiplying by a number copied from another university or an old circular is the most common percentage mistake students make.
How to convert CGPA to percentage?
Enter your CGPA above, select your university (and your scheme or regulation if asked), and calculate. The tool applies your university's official CGPA to percentage rule and shows the substituted calculation with a link to the official source document.
