No rule is applied until you select a university — we never guess a formula.

This CGPA to percentage chart puts every official conversion rule we have verified side by side, so you can see what one CGPA becomes under each university's published formula. Find your university in the column headings — or skip the chart and use the calculator above, which applies the correct column for your university and links its official document.

Every column is an official published rule, scoped as noted in the heading. Two universities are deliberately absent: SPPU converts with banded equations by final grade under Circular 332/2020 (see the SPPU page), and the University of Mumbai repealed formula conversion on 1 January 2026 — its percentage now comes from your actual semester marks, as explained on the Mumbai University page.

How to read the chart safely

A chart is a summary, not an authority. Rules are scoped by scheme, ordinance version and graduation year — VTU's two schemes sit in two different columns, AKTU's revised and original ordinance texts sit in two different columns, and Delhi University changed columns in 2022-23. Before quoting any figure, open the official document linked from the calculator result for your university and confirm the rule governs your batch. If your university is missing from every column, do not borrow the nearest one: use the 'Other University / College' option on the calculator with the formula your institution officially publishes, or ask your examination cell for its conversion notice.

From chart to exact figure

Charts round to half-point CGPA steps; your CGPA has two decimals. The calculator above converts your exact value under your university's rule and shows the substituted equation, the scheme it applies to, and the official source with a checked date — the version safe to put on a form. For the reverse direction, see the Percentage to CGPA calculator.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use this CGPA to percentage chart?

Find your university's official rule in the column headings, then read across from your CGPA. Better: use the calculator at the top with your university selected — it applies the right column automatically and links the official source.

Why does the same CGPA give different percentages in different columns?

Because each university publishes its own conversion. An 8.0 CGPA is 80.00% under a × 10 rule, 76.00% under CBSE's × 9.5, 75.00% under (CGPA − 0.5) × 10 and 72.50% under (CGPA − 0.75) × 10 — all correct, for different students.

Why are SPPU and Mumbai University not in the chart?

SPPU converts with banded equations by final grade (Circular 332/2020), which no single column can show — use the SPPU page. Mumbai University repealed formula conversion on 1 January 2026 and now calculates percentage from actual marks, so it has no CGPA column at all.

Is the × 9.5 column a university rule?

× 9.5 is CBSE's official indicative conversion for Class 10 CGPA marksheets, and was also the University of Delhi's CBCS rule and IKGPTU's pre-2020 multiplier. It is not a general university formula.
