What CGPA do you need for your target percentage?

Enter the percentage a form, employer or admission asks for, and this works backwards through the same official rule to the CGPA you need. If the rule cannot be reversed to one exact CGPA (banded rules), it says so instead of guessing.

The official University of Delhi rule

University of Delhi converts CGPA to percentage with Percentage = CGPA × 10 (graduating 2022-23 onwards) or CGPA × 9.5 (CBCS). It applies to: Students graduating from 2022-2023 onwards use Grand CGPA × 10 (Addition to Ordinance VIII, 2023); CBCS examinations up to AY 2021-22 use × 9.5. The calculator lets you switch. The rule is taken from University of Delhi Notifications CNC-II/093/1(22)/2022-23 (2023) and E.C. 20-21.07.2019 (Ordinance IX(8)) ↗ — open that official document and you will find the same formula; we never copy conversion rules from other calculator websites.

Worked example: a CGPA of 8.20 converts to 82.00% if you graduate in 2022-23 or later; 8.20 × 9.5 = 77.90% under the CBCS rule. The calculator shows the substituted equation with every result, together with the rule's scope and a link to the official source, so an employer or admission cell can verify it the same way you can.

How to convert, step by step

First, take your exact final CGPA from your consolidated grade card, without rounding it. Second, confirm the scheme, ordinance or graduation-year version that governs your batch — if this page's calculator shows a version selector, choose yours. Third, enter the CGPA above and apply the official equation exactly as written. Fourth, when you report the percentage anywhere official, name the rule beside it (for example, “as per University of Delhi Notifications CNC-II/093/1(22)/2022-23 (2023) and E.C. 20-21.07.2019 (Ordinance IX(8))”) so the figure can be checked. If you still need the CGPA itself, build it from semester SGPAs with the SGPA to CGPA calculator first. The general method is also explained in our guide on how to convert CGPA into percentage.

Good to know

DU changed its multiplier, and the change is printed on recent DU marksheets themselves: examinations of AY 2021-22 and before convert the Grand CGPA with × 9.5, while examinations of AY 2022-23 and after use × 10, following the 2023 addition to Ordinance VIII. So the right formula depends on when you graduate, not on which college of DU you attended. Convert your Grand CGPA (all semesters), never a single year's SGPA.

How do I convert University of Delhi CGPA to percentage manually?

Take your exact final CGPA and apply the official equation. Example: CGPA 8.20 converts to 82.00% if you graduate in 2022-23 or later; 8.20 × 9.5 = 77.90% under the CBCS rule. The calculator above does the same calculation and shows the substituted formula.

Is DU CGPA multiplied by 9.5 or 10?

Both — by graduation year. For examinations of AY 2021-22 and before, DU's CBCS rule is Final Percentage = Grand CGPA × 9.5. For students graduating from 2022-2023 onwards, the Addition to Ordinance VIII (Notification CNC-II/093/1(22)/2022-23) calculates the final percentage as Grand CGPA multiplied by 10. Your marksheet prints the applicable version.

Can I use a generic CGPA × 9.5 or × 10 shortcut instead?

Only if it happens to be University of Delhi's own published rule for your batch. Universities publish different conversions, and a shortcut copied from another university or a school board can misstate your percentage by several points on admission and job forms.

Where can I verify this rule myself?

In the official document linked on this page: University of Delhi Notifications CNC-II/093/1(22)/2022-23 (2023) and E.C. 20-21.07.2019 (Ordinance IX(8)). If your batch's marksheet prints a different conversion, that printed rule governs your result — tell us through the Contact page and we will update this page with the official source.
