Use this Mumbai University SGPA to CGPA calculator if you study at the University of Mumbai (MU) and want a clear, hand-checkable CGPA from your semester SGPAs. Students also search for an MU SGPA to CGPA calculator — this is the same tool, with Mumbai-specific notes below, including what changed for percentage conversion on 1 January 2026.

How Mumbai University semesters fit together

Many University of Mumbai programmes run on a credit-based semester system: you receive an SGPA for each semester, and your CGPA is the cumulative picture across all completed semesters. Course credits can differ between theory, practical, tutorial and project components, so two semesters rarely deserve exactly the same weight. That is why this calculator offers both a simple average and a credit-weighted average, and explains which one you used.

Formula with a worked example for MU

Weighted CGPA = Σ(SGPA × credits) / Σ(credits). Suppose an MU student has Sem 1: 7.40 with 22 credits, Sem 2: 8.10 with 20 credits and Sem 3: 8.60 with 22 credits. Then CGPA = (162.8 + 162.0 + 189.2) / 64 = 514.0 / 64 = 8.03. A simple average would give 8.03 as well here only by coincidence of rounding; change any credit total and the two methods separate, which is exactly why copying semester credits from your grade card matters.

Percentage for Mumbai University — the formula was repealed in 2026

Do not use the old MU formula any more. The University of Mumbai circular dated 1 January 2026 ↗ (No. Exam/Result/2026, Board of Examination and Evaluation) repealed the earlier conversion circulars — Exam/Com/97 of 2018 and Exam/Result/157 of 2019, which had used (CGPA × 7.1) + 11 — with immediate effect. Under the current rule, only students who specifically request a conversion get one: your college calculates the actual percentage from your marks in all semesters (Sem-I to Sem-VI), and the University issues a conversion certificate only on request. That is why the calculator shows this explanation for MU instead of a number: applying the repealed formula, or another university's, would misstate your result.
