Target CGPA Calculator
Target CGPA Calculator: enter current CGPA and target to find the average SGPA you need in your remaining semesters — including when a target is unreachable.
Plan your target CGPA
Free • No signup • Nothing storedThis target CGPA calculator answers the question every student asks mid-degree: what do I need from here? Enter your current CGPA, how many semesters are done, your target, and how many remain — it returns the average SGPA required in the remaining semesters.
The formula
Required SGPA = (Target × (done + remaining) − Current × done) ÷ remaining. Your current CGPA is already 'banked' across the completed semesters; the remaining semesters must collectively pull the average to the target. The same maths explains why targets get harder late in a degree: with six semesters banked, two remaining semesters can only move the average a little, whatever you score.
Reading the result honestly
If the required SGPA is above 10.00, the target is mathematically unreachable and the calculator says so, showing the best CGPA still available to you. If it is at or below 0, you have already secured the target on average. Between those poles, compare the requirement with your recent semesters rather than your best one — a plan built on repeating your best semester four times is not a plan. Once you know the number, convert semester results as they arrive with the SGPA to CGPA calculator and track your running CGPA against it.

Frequently asked questions
How is the required SGPA calculated?
Required SGPA = (Target CGPA × total semesters − Current CGPA × completed semesters) ÷ remaining semesters. It is the average you must score across every remaining semester, assuming semesters count equally.
What if the calculator says my target is unreachable?
It means even 10.00 in every remaining semester cannot lift your average to the target. The result shows the highest CGPA you can still finish with — aim at or below that.
Does this account for semester credits?
This planner assumes equal semesters. If your semesters carry different credits, use the credit-weighted SGPA to CGPA calculator to test scenarios semester by semester.
Is a required SGPA of 9.5 realistic?
Only you and your past papers can judge. Treat very high requirements as a signal to distribute effort: a slightly lower, reachable target often beats an all-or-nothing plan.
