Use the SGPA to CGPA calculator JNTUH for Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad. It handles SGPA to CGPA with or without credits and shows each step.
JNTUH students on R18, R22 and later regulations can all use the same weighted maths here; only the percentage notification changes by regulation year, so always match the rule to your own batch before quoting a percentage anywhere official.
JNTUH system at a glance
JNTUH awards SGPA each semester on a 10-point scale and computes CGPA cumulatively across semesters. Each subject carries credits; the semester total is on your grade card. Weighted CGPA respects differing semester loads – important when a semester includes a mini-project or comprehensive viva.
Formula explained with JNTUH numbers
Weighted: CGPA = Σ(SGPA×credits)/Σcredits. Example: Sem 1 7.00 (21 credits), Sem 2 7.80 (22 credits) → (147 + 171.6)/43 = 318.6/43 = 7.41. Simple average would be 7.40. The step-by-step table below the result mirrors this math so you can hand-check. The “what SGPA do I need next?” helper also works for JNTUH: pick a target CGPA and next semester credits to see the required SGPA, with a clear “not reachable” message above 10.
JNTUH percentage – the official rule
JNTUH's official conversion is Percentage = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10, stated in clause 11.2 of the B.Tech Academic Regulations R18 ↗: “%% of Marks = (final CGPA – 0.5) x 10”. Example: CGPA 7.41 → (7.41 − 0.5) × 10 = 69.10%. The same clause is carried into the later R-series regulations (R20/R22); still, match it to your own regulation year on your grade card before using the figure on an official form. The calculator shows the substituted formula and links the official regulations PDF with every JNTUH result.
Mistakes JNTUH students make
- Using an old R16 rule for an R22 student.
- Forgetting that supplementary exam credits count only after clearance per JNTUH rules.
- Rounding SGPA before weighting.

Frequently asked questions
What is JNTUH's CGPA method?
JNTUH aggregates SGPAs cumulatively. When credits are on your grade card, weighted CGPA (SGPA×credits) is the accurate method.
What is the JNTUH CGPA to percentage formula?
Percentage = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10. It is stated in clause 11.2 of JNTUH's official B.Tech Academic Regulations (R18) and carried into the later R-series regulations. A CGPA of 8.00 therefore converts to 75.00%.
Where to find JNTUH official source?
In the Academic Regulations PDF for your regulation on JNTUH's official website — clause 11.2 of the R18 B.Tech Regulations states %% of Marks = (final CGPA − 0.5) × 10. The calculator result links that official PDF.
Does one semester work the same at JNTUH?
Yes – CGPA equals SGPA after one semester.
