SPPU CBCS in general terms
SPPU awards SGPA on a 10-point scale each semester. Credits are assigned per course; add them for the semester total. Because SPPU programs vary (engineering, commerce, science), credit distributions differ – engineering semesters with labs/projects often carry more credits. Our calculator lets you switch between equal-credits and weighted to match your situation, and explains the formula in plain language with your numbers inserted.
Worked example for SPPU
Imagine Sem 5: 8.00 (20 credits), Sem 6: 8.60 (22 credits), Sem 7: 7.90 (21 credits). Weighted CGPA = (160 + 189.2 + 165.9)/63 = 515.1/63 = 8.18. Simple average = 8.17. The difference is small here, but matters when a semester has a heavy project. The result card shows both the overall CGPA and the running CGPA after each semester so you catch trends.

Percentage for SPPU – the official banded rule
SPPU does not use one multiplier. Under Circular No. 332/2020 ↗, for UG programmes under CBCS from AY 2019–20, your final grade band selects the equation: O (9.50–10): 20 × CGPA − 100; A+ (8.25–9.50): 12 × CGPA − 25; A (6.75–8.25): 10 × CGPA − 7.5; B+ (5.75–6.75): 5 × CGPA + 26.25; B/C (4.75–5.75): 10 × CGPA − 2.5; D (4.00–4.75): 6.6 × CGPA + 13.6. The calculator applies the band for your CGPA automatically and links the official circular. Older SPPU patterns were converted differently — the examination section's marksheet conversion note ↗ uses CGPA × 8.9 — so match the document to your pattern before quoting a figure.
Common SPPU pitfalls
- Averaging without weighting when SPPU credits differ.
- Ignoring backlog clearance rules for CGPA counting.
- Copying a senior's percentage rule that changed in a new circular.
